In 2025, Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) launched Project Aab-e-Nemat, a transformative clean water initiative aimed at providing sustainable access to safe drinking water for remote mountain communities in Skardu, Pakistan. This life-saving project reflects DGF’s deep commitment to human dignity, health, and community empowerment.
Under the leadership of Tara Uzra Dawood, President of Dawood Global Foundation, the project installed 11 solar-powered water boreholes in some of Skardu’s most water-deprived areas, including Hargisa Toq, Katpana, Eidgah, Brolmo, Astana, Sundus, Thang Katpana, Ghazi Muhalla, Sarkhor Ragayool, Ranga, and Qomrah. These boreholes each feed five community taps capable of delivering clean, potable water drawn from deep aquifers designed to serve communities for over 25 years.
The Skardu installations are tailored to address the severe shortage of safe water that previously forced families especially women and children to walk long distances for unreliable or unsafe sources. Today, more than 5,300 residents and three local schools benefit from clean water within their own communities, easing daily burdens and supporting health and education outcomes.
Key partnerships with Dubai-based organizations Impact Adventures and Fathers & Kids Camping brought together over 40 international volunteers to help build these solutions on the ground symbolizing global unity and community-led development.
Aab-e-Nemat is more than infrastructure it’s a model of **sustainable, solar-powered development that restores dignity, empowers locals, and inspires continued expansion across Pakistan’s water-insecure regions. Project Aab-e-Nemat now paves the way for scaling up to *100 similar solar-powered water stations nationwide.
